This poppy blooms in June here. They self sow, so I would think they usually are seeding themselves by late July. Its very hot here in July. I am just now seeing the baby plants showing.

I haven't found papaver somniferum to need cold stratification. I sow lots and broadcast, as you did, in the fall then every week after I see seedlings for 3 weeks. The do suffer from being crowded but the show is longer, much longer if you harvest from them lol.

They start showing in mid May here in central Idaho (ignore my username lol) and are blooming still when temps are in the low 80's. Like SCG, I broadcast seed in late fall (no more after tho) and thin them to about 8" between plants for bigger plants. They bloom a pretty good while for me :)
