slow caladiums

I grew some gorgeous caladiums in a pot in my shade garden this summer. At the end of the season, I cut off the foliage and brought the bulbs inside before the cold weather set in. Since then, the pot has been in my basement, where I assumed the bulbs (or are they tubers?) would start growing more foliage. I even set them on a heating pad for a couple weeks, but nothing happened. Will they eventually grow leaves again?

Assuming the bulbs didn't get too dry and dessicate, or too wet and rot, or too cold and freeze, they should sprout again. They like to be warm and damp, and putting them in some bright light if you have it probably wouldn't hurt either. Don't try to start them in a cool place, or the combination of cold and wet will probably rot them out before they can get going.

I found a temperature of at least 80 degrees was needed to get them going. They do rot very readily if they are wet and cold or even damp and cold. Al
