Red......no other word for it.
I have given up on gomphrena.....the bunnies like it too much.

I had the experience last year of growing an allegedly carmine small-flowered petunia from seed, and finding out that it was actually a hot pink. Carmine should be a strong, hot red.

I'm not familiar with Paul's Scarlet rose but it looks like a strong red in the pictures I googled. Eric, thanks for posting your picture. If possible, I am trying not to plant clashing combinations but I'll just have to see what happens.

Searching Google...maybe what I had was QIS red.....
One site describes the carmine as hot pink to purple...
The gomphrena I had before the bunnies discovered it was red....as in red white and blue. I used some for a dried bouquet with larkspur and baby's breath.
