Tom,

I would've repotted before anything blooms, or leaves--broke in the spring, but now, I would try to time the repotting to coincide wiht total blossom fade and the emergence of leaves. With crabs it's hard to so,since leaves can begin emerging before the blooms fade.

I wouldn't repot in the fall. I think there is too much room for things to go awry with fall repotting in cold environments.

Thanks, guys...I just found an ideal pot while cleaning out my garage - always the way...right now the blossoms have not yet begun to fade and the tree is also in full leaf and actively growing, just as you said, Mark...

I will set the pot aside and wait for next spring...it is getting to the point now that I will also have to include a note inside the pot as to what it is intended for next year. I will also have to remember where I put it...as our trees get better with age, why can't we :)
