'hens n chicks' Poppies?

I saw the seeds today for them at Walmart, but didnt buy. Has anyone ever grown them and what can you tell me about them? Colors etc? Is this an uncommon or common flower? Inquiring minds want to know. :-) The pic on the seed pack showed a Poppy seed pod surrounded by many tiny pods clustered at the base of the pod. How very odd!

I saw those, too! I was going to buy a packet, just out of curiosity, but after taking a closer look at the pic., had second thoughts and didn't buy them. I do like the odd conversation piece plant in the garden, but was afraid this one might be a bit too odd.

If anyone has grown them, please post some info.

I've got them sprouting all over the place. I winter sowed all kinds of annual poppies including the hens-n-chicks. My first time for them. I'll let you know!
