I've grown it, and it's lovely.

I've seen where some places it's advertised as a perennial, but in most/all of the U.S., it's grown as an annual.

It will definitely need a trellis or some wires to climb. A good soil is much preferred over an average soil, just don't go crazy with the manure.

I scarified the seeds by rubbing them in an emery board, then soaked them for 24 hours... or so. It can take them a good two weeks to sprout, depending on conditions, and they prefer warmth. Don't try to grow them in still-cold conditions, as I believe they're tropical. Warm, warm, warm.

I noticed that my package instructions said to sow a seed every inch, then thin to 6-12" apart, which seemed like a waste of seed, so I started them in 4oz plastic cups, two separated seeds to a cup, then transplanted them.

One of the most interesting things about them is that the flowers start out orange/red, then start to fade to orange, then yellow, then white. You'll have all the colors at once.

I grew it on my arbor 2 years ago. It grew just great but it didn't begin to bloom until the end of Sept!!! That's why I won't plant it again. By September I'm back to work and I can't enjoy my stuff as much..also all the hummingbirds were already gone!

I start them early indoors so I get flowers in mid-summer. They are beautiful! But...the deer eat them, so beware.

I started my seeds march 5th this year. All of them are starting to bloom, even though they are only two feet high and two months old. Hope they keep on blooming. filix
