I have done just a bit of research this year and here is what I have come up with as I started mine indoors.......
Moonflower (a vine of the morning glory family but flowers in evening and smells fabulous)is lovely and the flowers will stay out through to mid-morning provided there is no direct hot sun on them. Flowers white
Cathedral Bells(vine)are pretty and vigorous. Flowers Purple
Cypress vine I started indoors and within a week it had sprouted and grown 4 inches tall. Flowers Red.
You will be able to find Black-eyed Susan vine already started in most nurseries but they sell out fast so go early! Flowers orange or yellow or white varieties.

Cleome is a tall annual, but not a climber. I'm not sure if you're looking for tall or a climber/vine. Anyway, cleome did great in front of my western-facing wall.

Morning glories are called Morning, because the flowers open in the morning and close in the heat of the day. They like full sun and would probably do well on your western wall. You should know that at least here, they seed back by the gazillions every year, so be sure you really want them!

As you are considering your options, you might want to think about tall and spiky on that wall: larkspur, delphiniums, salvias, etc. You could also plant a row of columnar evergreen shrubs and then plant flowers in front of them. Then you would have interest all year long.
