Get some liquid fence....or mix up a concoction of habanera peppers water an egg in the blender and spray it on your plants.

Doggie, There is a product I bought called "deer-Off". It's a spray. Pricey at HD but really works. It also lasts for quite a while, so you don't have to spray it every time it rains.

Amazing how those little cuties can be so destructive.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I like the idea of the spray that lasts through a rainstorm, I think I'll try that.

Deer Off is expensive but it does work! I also sprinkle cayenne pepper (we buy them in large containers from Sam's), and this seems to help, only you have to remember to sprinkle often.

Throw some dried blood on the plants. It's sold in the organic fertilizer section of garden centers. Bunnies will stop eating. Plant eating animals are repelled by it.

I buy a product made up of bloodmeal and hot chile powder at Lowes and the rabbits have kept their distance since using that. It comes in a large container.

Everyone, is it possible that rabbits can eventually get past any of these products??? I have used Deer Away. I have used dried blood. I have used blood meal. And pepper mixtures. Everything works, at least for a day or two, and then on the third day, each and everything seems to just stop working. I have lost over 300 annuals this year. Just this week, about 90 impatiens..........gone.

We have been very dry here in southeast Missouri, so raining isnt an issue. I use soaker hoses to water, so there is not overhead watering. Can bottom watering cause these repellants to wash away? I cant see how it would, if dew doesnt wash away either.

Can you advise just how often to use the pepper mixtures?? I'd do it daily, if I thought it would work all the time.

Our latest strategy is to shoot at them in the evening. We do not shoot them, I would NEVER allow that. But, it really does seem to help scare them away, just by blasting that gun a couple times. My husband and son were gone ONE night this week, and did not shoot at them. Sure enough, the next morning, I had lost all those impatiens. I cant understand why they would touch these plants, which are just outside of our dog kennel, with our dog barking at them all night, but leave the ones alone that are out of sight from the dog. During daylight hours, they run away when the dog barks. Doesnt make sense!

Ellen, you need a fence so you can relax and enjoy your garden. Make sure it has chicken wire at the bottom, that comes out from the fence for a foot or two along the ground, so they don't burrow. Good luck. I can sympathise with you.

I built my home in 2001. As a tribute to my grandmother who had an awesome green thumb, I grow a vegetable garden, and I really spend time and money to landscape my front yard. For the 1st 7 years I have felt like Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam trying to stop those Dab-burn rabbits from a eatin my greens. The thing that saved me was PLANTSKYYD. I buy it from Syd's Nursery near my home. It is the only thing short of land mines, and gorilla warfare that stops them dog gone rabbits. Even my dog waives a white flag when he sees them. Both my Boxers use to chase them. The pure bred Boxer got tired of hitting the fence when they run him into it, so he's decided to happily lay on his side, lick himself and let the rabbbits reign. The Boxer that is 1/2 Boxer and 1/2 American Terrier puts up fight when she's not too busy sleeping. I bought this PLANTSKYYD stuff last year, and it works beyond my expectations. I use it around rose beds, bushes, shrubs, and trees in late October and the rabbits quit eating my burning bushes, lilac bushes, and hostas. the use to eat every leaf, bud, and petal off of my rose bushes. I was planting new rose bushes every year. As a navy veteran, I was almost ready to resort to Navy SEALS to take em out like a couple of Somali pirates. I have won the battle and the war for the last 2 seasons, so far(knock on wood).
