The flowers, or the piece that's left after the flowers have fallen off, need to all be plucked off one by one, or they will go to seed, using up energy from the plant.

And I appreciate it also because that's what I did and kept my finger crossed that it was the the right thing to do.

Now is also the time to prune branches.
Knowing where your flowers were may decide where you want to prune.

I have used this method for a number of years and have had excellent results. I actually cut the base of the flower bud off even with the leaves using shears. I also prune at this time so I can control the shape and not cut off flower buds later in the year. Take a look at my Satsuki on my site, www.bonsaijoe.com .
