It has actually been on the market for a few years. GREAT plant, does everything it says it does. Just don't let it run out of feed - with all those blooms, it is a heavy feeder.

So now it's the middle of August and I thought I would report. This plant has been a huge success. Absolutely covered with flowers and much daintier than regular cleome. However, I planted them in two containers on my deck and by now they are desperate to get out. If I plant them again in containers, I'll get much bigger pots.

I have nothing but raves for Cleome 'Senorita Rosalita' and will definitely look for it next year.

Ginny, do you have any pics you can post? How tall and wide has it gotten? I get the 'Queen' series of cleome and they get really tall...5 ft. I have kept them shorter by deadheading every so often and then they branch out even more doing that.
They have the thorns too.

I'm sorry I have no pics--no digital camera. I have always grown the Queen series in my garden. Senorita Rosalita is smaller in all its parts--flowers, leaves, height--and much more floriferous.

No pinching, deadheading. In pots, they are about 36" tall by now--Aug. 18. They self-branch and are absolutely covered with flowers and are attracting hummingbirds too.

But another poster was right--lots of water and fertilizer. I use Miracle Gro in pots and for annuals in the ground. Any liquid fertilizer would work, I'm sure.

Btw, you don't need a digital camera to put pics on the web. If you have a scanner, you can scan your pics to your puter. Then upload them to a photo website like Photobucket. From Photobucket you can put them here using the HTML code.

Thanks so much for the endorsement, Ginny! I generally don't care for cleome's form, and would've totally dismissed Senorita Rosalita on that basis in the spring. Thanks to your post, I've GoogleImaged her, and oh my gosh -- what a gorgeous plant! I hope you have a way to scan a photo of your containers so you can share.

I have just successfully posted my first photo on another post and thought I'd should link another one to cement the process in my less than young brain.

I couldn't resist buying Senorita Rosalita when I noticed it this spring. It only had one stem and one bloom but I had to "take it home."

I've read that one of its common names is Grandfather's Whiskers and here it is next to Cat's Whiskers - Orthosiphon stamineus.

I like that Jacqui,very pretty.I had some of the old standard cleomes,but think DH must have dug them out as i havn;t seen them in about 2 years.
