Hi. I've been working with bonsai for about a year, but I'm entirely new to air layering. I wish to clone my grandmother's threadleaf japanese maple, and air layering seems to be the best route. Since it's already August, is it ok to start the layer now or should I wait until spring? Also, since it is a slow glowing tree, about how long should I expect to wait before roots fully develop?
