Hi,

I buy pink Verbena (best bloomer for me) every year to plant as an annual. They need lots of sun, average to dry soil moisture and I just pinch off the dead flower clusters. They would look nice in front of shrubs, as long as they get full sun. There is a variety called 'Homestead purple, which I think it hardy in warmer zones, but most are annuals. They look great in a hanging basket too. Enjoy!

There is annual verbena and perennial. The perennial varieties are purple or pink.
Perennial verbena is pretty well hardy in zone 5...gets iffy in zone 4.

Thanks for the replies. I think I read though that they throw a lot of seed. They would be bordering a lawn. Any chance of me having verbena growing all over my lawn? If I do use them would you use one row or two in front of the shrubs? How far apart? I was thinking of the mix of pinks. Thanks again!
