Jade propagation

Alright, this is my first bonsai and almost everything is looking to be against me. I did alot of research to find a plant that would do well indoors since thats the only kind I can have while I'm at college. My neighboor has a jade and I took a clipping..I'm using 75% perlite and 25% peat for compost and some phosphate to make the roots stronger. The leafs are really big right now and I know I shouldn't mess with them. At least not yet, because it doesn't even have roots. But when the time comes how do you reduce the leaf size? Also do you have any advice on my first bonsai? Right now its in a normal pot but in a year or so I plan to transplant it to a bonsai pot, does that sound alright? Any help is much appreciated.
