I have seen the same mutation in zinnias on several occasions. I called them "threesies" and abbreviated that as "3Z" on my seed labels.

It's almost as if they changed from dicots (dicotyledons) to "tricots" (tricotyledons). Seeds saved from my threesies yielded a higher percentage of threesies, but I never came close to isolating a true-breeding strain.

Many of them didn't just have three leaves at each node, but three branches arose at each node as well. In almost all cases the branches themselves had the normal two-leaf arrangement.

Good luck on creating a three-branched race of snapdragons. They could have a superior plant habit with 50 percent more branches.
