Wave petunia's leaves turning white

I am new at growing wave petunias from seed but I got lucky and grew 120 nice plants. My problem is when I set them outside to harden after two days about a dozen plants started getting white leaves.The weather was 70 and sunny and I only had them out during the day.I could use some help.I'm a little nervous about this.

sun burn or frost burn ....

at first.. they go outside into deep shade.. which is incredibly more intense than a light bulb.. believe it or not..

and then a little more light every day ...

i throw stuff way under some pruned up pines ... and move them closer to the edge every day or two ...

and in the same way.. they need to be acclimated to temps ... and protected from frost freeze ... until hardened off ...

what is left is whether or not all the buds were burnt ... any new leaf.. will emerge acclimated to the light it gets.. so if they sprout.. you should be all set ...

as they explode in proper light ... the new growth will hide all the uglies fast enough ...

Thanks Ken I'm pretty sure it was sun burn. Live and learn.At least I can sleep tonight.
