If you have a good garden spot to set the Envy zinnias into, growing them in soil would be less complicated. I am growing some zinnias in pots now, because my available garden space is rather poor (and flooded), but pot indoor culture is rather high maintenance. You have to be careful to water and feed them rather frequently and, if the potting medium is sterile like mine supposedly is, you can't use urea-containing nutrients like Miracle-Gro. Urea requires soil microbes to break down into a usable form. Also, unless your tap water contains a lot of calcium, you have to supplement their nutrients with calcium nitrate, because Better-Gro and similar urea-free soluble nutrients don't contain calcium.

There are advantages to growing in a pot, but expect high maintenance. Envy zinnias are not dwarf, so you should have no more than one in a one-gallon container.

Thanks for the info. I guess I have 4 or 5 seedlings in each pots. Once the rain stops, I'll take a picture. Do they like full sun?

They do like full sun, but if they have been inside and aren't used to full sun, you should introduce them to full sun gradually over a period of several days. That is a variation of the process of "hardening off."

My Zinnia Envy got huge in 20" wide by 25" deep container last year. I made the mistake of putting other things in there with it and they were all crowded.

Trying to control myself this year but so many containers look to me like they could use "just one little Zinnia" but I've got some Pinwheels which stay pretty small.

The Envy had a long vase life last year. They had a kind of straw texture to the petals. Added unusual color and texture to flower arrangements. Nothing happier than a vase of different Zinnia.

I didn't know they can get that wide. I should definitely transplant them to ground very soon. I sowed them on pots outside that gets sunlight from morning until 1pm.

I forgot to update this thread. The zinnia seedlings are very tough! I've already transplanted them. I didn't see any drooping at all!!! I have total of seven 3-4" zinnia envy plants. I can't wait to see them flower.
