most form rosette of leaves first year which is about 1.5' but next year they start gaining height which may reach to 9' but mostly remain between 4'-6', dwarf ones are shorter and also bloom earlier than regular ones...

arent they a biennial.. which means they will grow a nice little mound this year.. perhaps a flower late ..

and then explode and grow according to the pack info next year???

i think some grow longer sometimes ...

ken, we have such hollyhocks which bloom within 4 months of sowing and don't form rosettes at all, while some varieties act as true biennial...

AileenEdword - izhar gave you accurate info on hollyhock growth in the first reply you got. Ken basically said the same thing. Did you want to know something else about them?
