Scarlet runner beans would never be described as fuchsia. Red/orange would be closer. Or....'scarlet'...which means red/orange. ;-) Perhaps you have some sort of hybrid cultivar? (But then it wouldn't be Scarlet Runner Beans.)

I grow scarlet runner beans almost every year...not so much for the flower...I'm always disappointed in those, but for the quick cover of foliage the bean makes for those naked areas in my yard. I've gotten seed from every different catalog on the market (i think) and each time the flower is just a tad different in color and habit...but always a typical scarlet runner bean. One time tho...years, and years ago...the supplier of the seed long lost in memory (my father's garage if I'm not mistaken) I grew one bean that was nothing short of amazing! It was the most gorgious candy apple red and the flowers were huge. There was so many flowers they were impossible to count. The hummingbirds and butterflies and bees swarmed them. They grew tall and thick and lush and didn't require any care from me for the whole summer. Unfortunately I never imagined it was a one-of-a-kind and didn't think to save any of the seeds. My hunt for that elusive variety still continues to this day.

You may already know about this, but there is another ornamental bean that is even prettier than scarlets. It called a Hyacinth Bean and sports pretty purple flowers and even purple seed pods. Edible too, they say, altho I've never eaten them. A much better served bean plant to grow if it's a flower you're looking for. Still I can't get that vision of the scarlet runner out of my mind. Simply no comparison!

The 'Sunset' variety has very pretty pale peachy-pink flowers.
