Calendula needs a lot of sun--it's a full sun plant. I'm not sure indoors has enough light for them. You'd be better off with a shade or part shade plant.

My Flat Window gets Full Sun All Day, Well it Does when the Sun Shines....

Ninecrow, full sun conditions ouside are very different than what your plant will experience on your sunny window ledge. Outside, the full (unfiltered by glass) spectrum of sunlight from all directions. There are no walls, no roof.

The outdoor environment also offers humidity and fresh air circulation (breezes) , something we can't duplicate inside. Many plants are very adaptable to the inside. A calendula probably isn't.

Try it and let us know. They're easy from seed.

There is at least one site: Calendula-Medicinal Indoor House Plant that says do it. I'm not too excited about it myself but who knows 'til you've tried it?

Can be done.....just. Make sure that you get the smallest calendulas - not those huge blooms for the cut flower market but something neat like 'Citrus Cocktail' (around 8inches tall). Also, your potting mix must include some loam - not those compost multi-purpose things - try for John Innes 2 (the 3 is too strong for calendulas). Also, do a couple of sowings, 3 weeks apart because they do run out of steam and getr a bit mildewy, but you can replace the tatty older ones with some new ones. A very easy little plant to grow and looks rather good with purple basil. Nice in salads too (the petals, not leaves).

Very Stretched but I HAVE Flowers, Bright Orange.... In fact the Stretch is OK as I'm opersit an Indusial Estate... They can See in, So Tall Plants are a Plus....
