Juniper

Hey, I live in a dorm in the UP of Michigan and I was looking at different types of bonsai trees to get and one of my favorite trees that doesn't seem to difficult to keep alive. But the biggest problem is that during its dormant phase it would be in my room. I could keep it in my car but temperatures can get as low as -30 degrees here in the UP. I mean I could put it in my fridge.. and try to lower the temp like 5 degrees a week until I get it to like 20-32 degrees which seems to be the optimal temperature. Any help? or maybe suggestions for other trees? I don't really want a tropical tree they just aren't appealing to me. Anyway, if you can help me please do!
