I think your house looks great already.

I plant begonias in the front bed because they are neat, compact, always in bloom and require no deadheading. The annual types do great here in full sun.

I agree, it looks wonderful. What I would do is scour several nurseries in your area and buy whatever looks good that would go with your color scheme. Something in yellow might look cheerful as long as it isn't too close to the house so that it clashes with the color of the house. White would also be great. Your house and property are beautiful, by the way.

Just today I say gallon sized pota of blooming annuals for $3.88...petunial zinnias, begonia etc...
I would buy as many as my purse allowed and plop them in the ground...
And bury a statue of St Joseph! LOL!

It's the truth on the statue of St. Josepth too. I hadn't sold my house in two years but a couple of weeks after I buried one in the front we had 3 bidders and it sold. I laughed at my DIL when she gave it to me but she swore they used it and that's how they sold they're house too.

I think you need something in that window box upstairs. Being that box is so high up they have some very nice quality silk plants you could get for that and no one would be able to tell easily they'd forget to look but it'd be curb appeal, ie: stuff it with fuchias hanging up and over the sides.

Keeping in mind everyone's tastes and combinations in colours will vary (and what they find personally appealing), but since you've said you've got pinks comin' on, would it look good to you to throw in some salmon/peachy coloured blooms, and then with that, you could have some reds for punch. I love combinations of colours, when I see lots of them together, like pinks and salmons and reds.

Gorgeous, beautiful house and property, by the way. Hope it doesn't take too long to have that sale, since I've found selling a house and keeping it looking show home style, to be exhausting (I have boy-kids with lots of stuff that they like to spread around!).

LOL...with grandparents born in Italy I thought "my people" were the only ones who did the thing with a little St. Joseph statue!

Had an Italian college roommate who also put a little statue of Mary in the window before bed in hopes of holding off rain for the next day. Mary had to be facing the big outdoors, mind you.

What a hoot and blast from the past...my aunt buried a statue of St. Joseph in the little patch of grass out in front of her townhouse when trying to sell it.

By the way, your house is beautiful. I love the color combo of walls and shutters.

You can get a little statue in any "religious store" and there are plenty of online sources for them.

This "explanation" on Snopes web site offers a humorous explanation of tradition. Had no idea realtors were getting in on the practice!
