This bonsai is about 8in. high, it has pointed oval leaves and green grey bark. The leaves aren't as pointed as a money tree's though there more roundish. Please help!
No enough info. How wide & long are the leaves, are the edges scalloped (notched), are they dark or light green, do they come off the trunk alternately or two (opposing) at a time, and is it supposed to be an indoor or outdoor tree? Answer those and maybe we'll have a clue.
It's about 1 1/2 in long and about 1 in wide. the existing leaves are dark green but new leaves start out light. The leaves are not scalloped and they come off the trunk alternately. Its lived indoors fine and i give it about 2 hours of sunlight which I read is recomended so im pretty sure its an indoor bonsai.
Hi again, sorry you're not Kristin, are you. I mixed up two posts there. Anyhow, I'm really confused because you say the leaves aren't as pointed as money tree's, and to me money tree leaves are round. You could have a gardenia (are the leaves glossy?), or one of a lot of other things. Are there flowers? Fruit? Are the leaves thickish/stiffish or thin like a maple's? And how could you read that 2 hrs of light are recommended when you don't know what kind of plant it is? I have never in my life heard of a plant living on only 2 hrs of light. Please clarify all this... I would like to help you.
I'm sorry for not clarifying. The leaves are thick and i meant at least two hours of DIRECT SUNLIGHT a day. The leaves are not glossy. Personally though my noney trees leaves are not that round and pretty long 3in. Which is longer than my bonsais. Im stupid for buying a bonsai withiut a label and the right info. so im sorry if im bugging you on this situation. Thank you everyone for helping. Oh and no flowers or fruit but i got it 2 weeks ago so im not sure if it blooms in spring.
Hi, don't be silly, not bugging, getting info (which more people should do before they kill trees). Anyhow, obviously your money tree and my money tree are diff. plants, so forget that! And not being shiny means it's not a gardenia (which for some reason I thought it might be). I seriously wish you could go to wherever you got it and at least find another one of the same and read the tag. It's frustrating wanting to help, but there are just too many trees/plants out there with similar leaves, etc. to make the wrong guess at. The best advice I dare give you is not to let it be soggy wet all the time - better to let it dry out a bit between waterings, and if leaves start to wilt just a bit (thin and droopy but same color) then you can water again, rather than overwatering, watch the leaves turn yellow or brown, and fall off, not to mention that the roots may rot. I'd also keep it in pretty good light (a sunny window) unless you see it actively turning away from the light within a day (it happens), then give it a bit less. Sorry! Let me know if you find out what it is!
