LOVE pentas. Great butterfly and hummingbird plant, that's for sure. Go through once a week or so and dead head to keep them blooming all season long.

ditto... lovely plants, very easily propagated through cuttings.. mulching benefits them a lot, regular pinching makes the bushy, dont know which variety you bought because some are compact & self branching which do not require pinching... a well drained medium with plenty of organic matter in it.. they require afternoon shade here in our hot summers... moderate balanced fertilizers...

They are one of my favorites. I try to get some every year, although they are getting hard to find around here. They don't mind the mid-Atlantic heat and humidity or my clay soil. All they need is deadheading once in awhile and a little water when it's dry.

Totally Confused

It is a great plant, but not easy from seeds. Very slow growing up to transplant size. Great from sixpacs if you can find them, plugs also work well if you can use a tray of them. Al

I might also add that this is one of the BEST of the true red "annuals" (tender perennials, lololol) around! Gosh, that pops color in the garden.

Amen to all of the above. My favorites are the old fashioned taller ones. To me, the newer dwarfs lost some of the grace. They are certainly at the very top of my list for great summer annuals where heat and humidity is a constant.
