That is really a beautiful one. I haven't seen it by me though. Is it from a series like the 'Kong' or 'Stained Glass'? Please post again later in the summer to let us know how well it does in the sun and shade. Sometimes before the heat sets in a plant will do well in the sun, but by August it won't do so well.

Hello Kat,

Further research shows it's full name is "Wizard Pineapple" and it's from the Wizard Series. I'll let you know how it does as the season wears on.

I have another one that is labled Wizard Pineapple & it doesn't look like this.

I looked at several Wizard Pineapple when I bought this one and there was quite a bit of variation in the amount of red on the leaves. Most had the red at the bottom of the leaf near the petiole. But a few had the red scattered about in the leaves like this one, and some had hardly any red at all. I liked this one, of course it was only a baby with about 5 leaves at the time.

The wizard series is seed grown. You can expect some varience in seed grown varieties. The kongs are also a seed grown variety. Stained glass is a trade name for a cutting grown line.

Coleus are the best.
It is the only plant I buy at nurseries this time of year.
I also grow from seed. I have 5 "Giant Exhibition" plants that grew from seed. And 18 of the coleus generic "Rainbow" from seed.
Even with all those, I still can't resist nice ones from the nurseries. It is the colors and leaf shapes that attract me.
