sunflowers from the seeds for brids!

I sowed some sunflower flower seeds which were meant to be fed to birds. The germination rate is much greater than those flower seed packages, and the seedlings are stronger looking. However, I am not really sure now whether or not they ARE sunflowers or not. The plants don't get as big as regular sunflowers. Some of the plants are budding. The buds don't look like those of regular sunflowers. What are they actually?

Hi,
It is a sunflower. Not sure why you think the bud looks wrong. Sunflowers vary in size from dwarf like yours to very tall. I'm betting the mix had a quick to mature short variety to make harvesting very fast and easy.

Thank you for your answer and the link. My ignorance was why I was not sure if it was a sunflower. I had never seen one this small and bud looks much less fussy. I thought all sunflowers are huge. Thank you for the clarification
