Sanvitalia--do I need to deadhead/cut back?

I grew some Sanvitalia (creeping zinnia) from seed this year. The seeds were give-aways at a spring garden show, no growing instructions were on the packet. I don't know which variety they are.

I searched the forum and found this thread:

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/annuals/msg051815349998.html

which has a post from someone at Proven Winners that says sanvitalia doesn't need to be deadheaded, but a specific variety is named.

Is this true of all varieties? I can't find any other care info. If deadheading isn't necessary, a "haircut" shouldn't be a problem, should it? The plants are getting a bit leggy.
