Definitely not Lobelia. I too thought it might be Browallia... or Torenia. However the foliage in your picture looks different - almost succulent, or is that just because it's slightly out of focus?

It looks like a Streptocarpus, maybe 'Falling Stars'. Loggee's carries abunch of these. They are a relative of the african violet.

It is Streptocarpus. I've used them in planters in part shade. They do great and can take the abuse of a bad waterer(me, lol).

At first glance I thought it was Browallia, but the petals on the top are too smaller than the ones on the bottom, not a browallia flower. The foliage looks a bit different too. Other than that, can't offer any help.

If you do want something similar, give Browallia a try. Performs beatifully in part shade and will give a similar look :)

Wow, thanks for all the responses! My horrible photo probably isn't much help. I went back to try to get a better picture today, but the funeral home was having a viewing so I didn't get one. I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully post a picture that will clear things up for sure. If there's someone around at the funeral home, I might ask them where they bought their baskets.

The leaves look succulent and downy, and the flowers have tubular bases. That's streptocarpella.

Apparently something's wrong with my camera/batteries, the darned thing pooped out on me again today, but I managed to get one shot before it died. This one's a bit more in focus---I took it of the basket as a whole and am also listing a link here to a close-up portion of the photo. I felt the leaves; they are succulent and downy.

I had to look up Streptocarpella. I guess it is becoming more in use, but Streptocarpus is still used. If you google images of Streptocarpus saxorum, you will get photos like Rhizo's. Some times that happens with plants: )

was it ever decided what the plant at the funeral home IS? amy, did you get a chance to ask them?? i LOVE it. i wonder if it could be grown as an annual. i would love to hear if anyone FOR SURE knows what it is. thanks,

Yes, it has been decided. By popular vote, the plant is Streptocarpella (or Streptocarpus, for those not into the latest nomenclature change) saxorum.

More for those into Frenchified webpages (nice photo).

They're sometimes sold as annuals. Heat tolerance is somewhat of an issue.

I haven't yet asked them. I drive by at least twice a day and keep hoping I'll see someone working on the landscaping but no luck. I'd feel somewhat awkward walking into the 'memory center' offices and asking about flowers (I think I'm worried that I'll interrupt someone's funeral planning) but I might have to bite the bullet and go in if I don't see someone outside soon.

i spent at least 2 hours looking up streptocarpella saxorum on absolutely every different site i could think of -- they just DON'T look like the plant in the picture (from the funeral home. you definitely seem very confident, but.......
