Sun Patiens not as promised

I waiting eagerly to purchase Sun patiens from Home Depot the only licensed dealer this year. They were not inexpensive but I hoped they would live up to their claim. The ones I bought definitely did not. They were fine until the sun hit them. Then they look like shriveled up plants. I have taken to parking the car in front of the planter to provide shade in the afternoon but that is a bother. Has anyone else had success growing these in the sun?

Hi puzzlefan! Yes, if you read my post, "Thoughts of Fall flowers?" I mention that I have planted lots of Sunpatiens this summer. I planted 29 to be exact! They have done well, but they DO need water...serious water!!

I water twice a day, first thing in the morning (between 7.00 & 8:00) & then again around 5:30 p.m. I water even on the days when my sprinkler system has watered them, which is every other day at 4:00 a.m.!

My area has had lots of sunny days in the 90's, but today we are actually overcast with rain & in the low 80's (yay!) so *today* I got a break from watering!

I've really enjoyed the Sunpatiens. Just try a little extra water & see how they do. Even if they are shriveled, some extra moisture may rejuvenate them.
