Which variety did you grew?

I think of this plant as a cool season plant. It doesn't even like to flower when the temperatures get warm. They can go into decline (puniness?) during the summer.

But, don't give up all hope! They may give you a nice fall rebound once the temps go down in your location, especially at night. You might consider cutting them back if they are awfully leggy.

Another thing that could affect their condition is if you've had a lot of rain this growing season.

Did you know that Osteospermums are propagated by cuttings, commercially? (They are, after all, hybrid perennials which are treated AS annuals in much of the world.) They are grown under very high light/cool temperature conditions for optimum results.

You are right because I've seen them last year winter in our nurseries with abundant blooms and was planning to have them for my upcoming fall season garden...

No, I did not know that - maybe that's why they were poopy (it's been hot and humid, lots of rain up here). Oh well, at least seed is inexpensive, and it is fun to try new things, even if they don't work out :0)

I started them from seed this year around February and they are HUGE and covered in big beautiful blooms.

They do much better on the dry side in FULL sun I have found but even ones that are in part shade are putting on quite a show.
