They could well be. Most of the baskets and pots done for business and towns are crowded with plants, therefore the plants have nowhere to grow but to trail down the pot. It's rather like crowding plants in a bed. They grow taller looking for space and light

Kind of like my 3 foot tall, 2 inch diameter stalk Marigolds :-D I thinned them but too late! I finally trimmed them all back to about one foot hoping it might force them to bloom. I only left the 4 or 5 giant ones that already were blooming.

Could they be scaevola?
