i dont even have flowers yet on my Moonflowers or MG. It's Aug. did I fert wrong? Only used Miricle grow.

girlfriend4u, you usually don't want to fertilize MGs at all. Too much water or too much food and they just grow and grow and grow without forming buds. I usually just water my seedlings until they look "good and strong" and then I only give them supplemental water if we're going through a really dry spell.

This is pretty early for mine. This seedling was a gift from a friend she started in a 4" pot in the spring. The ones I planted in the ground are only about 2 feet tall right now so I don't expect blooms until late Sept.

I also started moonflower vine from seed this past spring. I put them in large pots, one on each side of a patio entryway with 10ft high bamboo pole tripods. I added all kinds of other vines...sweet pea, morning glory, love in a puff and black eyed susan. They all grew, but I didnt' fertilize at all really, but they got watered every day. The moonflower vine just started blooming last week. NOw I can see all kinds of buds on it. What happened? Why are they blooming so late? I started thinking I dreamed I started the seedlings...I thought all the foliage was from the morning glory.

Moonflower vine is a tender perennial, not an annual so it takes its time to bloom. They don't realize that the frost is just around the corner!
