Best performing vinca?

This year I wanted to try a low growing vinca for my baskets, so I did a little research and decided to buy seeds from the Mediterranean series.

The seed packet said that they would also trail, but after aprox. 10 weeks I was very disappointed. Although the plants were really low growing (about 5 inches tall) they didn't trail at all.

To my surprise, 2 more weeks and they started growing like crazy in the hanging pot!

This one is Mediterranean Peach

Right now they are about 2 feet wide and loaded with flowers. I'm really happy with them. The leaves are really thick and don't seen to be bothered when I forgot to water.

Hi. I've never tried vinca but seeing your plant is giving me incentive. The 12 weeks it took for the plants to start trailing...was that from the day of seeding?

Yes, 12 weeks after the day of seeding. Since I live in a relatively frost free area I can grow things year-round, but anywhere else this series should be started as early as possible or you'll only get a good display by late summer.

That is such a pretty picture of your vinca basket. Do you know if you can also purchase this variety or another of trailing vinca at nurseries? That would be nice for those of us who wouldn't want to plant the seeds.
