I've been hoping someone who knows would chime in here with an answer for you. There are datura blooms in yellow, lavender, and purple that I've seen. Some are double also. But I've not seen any that didn't have the trumpet shape to the blooms, which phalaenopsis are more flat and not trumpet-like at all.

I tried a Google search and found nothing like your description. However, I don't think you're imagining it. Too bad you couldn't get a photo. I'd sure be interested in seeing it.

I found a little tiny wild-flower with a pea-like bloom on my property this year. I tried to get an ID on this in two different gardening forums, and I did have a photo. I still have no clue what this flower is. I gathered some seeds and hope to grow more of it next year. I sure hope the seeds from your mystery plant grow for you, too. Good luck.
