Planting Marigold's around a Holly tree...

What do you think?

The Holly tree is very large...at least 25 feet tall...most every Fall I have planted Pansies all the way around it...a circle of flowers and to me it looked pretty...

One year I had Petunia's around it...but for some reason, I don't have good luck with them anymore.

It would be too hot a spot for impatiens.

Wondering if the shortest yellow Marigold's would look ok planted around it, or would it look dull?

My only concern is the amount of sun getting to ground level through the holly tree. Al
