It looks like a type of California (escholzia) poppy. There are so many. Here's a link to a site with a lot of poppy pictures. Maybe you can figure it out.

After being in the Sonoran (Arizona) desert during a record-breaking bloom of Mexican goldpoppies 3 years ago, I plant them every year. They are so cheery and spiritually renewing for me.

Do your mex have a 2 to 3 inch long slender pod?

Yes, my Mexican goldpoppies have a slender pod, BUT, they seem to disappear before making any seeds. I must have 25 plants all over the garden. Maybe some critter is eating them. I keep watching specific pods for clues. It's a mystery.

They do flower from spring to late fall, till we have a few freezes. What a treat. I just throw the seeds around. They germinate next to rocks and in dips where moisture and organic matter collect.

Hunnemania. The only time I grew it was hoping to cut it, but flowers didn't last. Pretty in the garden.

I thought it might be Dicranostigma franchetianum - a member of the poppy family?
