CI, I am toying w/the same idea, when to load my incubator. As far as letting a hen set on them, that is another story. Unless you currently have a broody???? you need to wait for one to go broody or get an incubator. You can't make a hen sit on eggs.

I'm very excited for you to have such a handsome roo, I'd love to see some pictures of him????

That rooster looks like he will protect the hens from any varments. When I was younger, it seemed that if we left the eggs in the nest it would cause the hens to go broody when they had about 8 ot 10 eggs, but if you collect them each day, it seemed to keep their minds off nesting. You might try that after you rooster is in with the hens for a week just to make sure none of those eggs would be infertile at the beggining. Bill C
