Swap anyone?

I'm a newbie at seed swapping, though have done a number of plant swaps (but not in the past 3 years). I'd welcome any guidance through the swap. That being said, I'm ready for a new addiction!

Please check my exchange page and let's trade!

    Hi victorian_bellefonte,

Well you are off to a good start here for a newbie, having an email link on your Member Page along with your location and a trade list.

Typically all seeds are sent via a bubble envelope, in fact many members specifically specify that bubblies are required when trading with them.

There is now a Rate and Review Forum something that might not have been in place back when you were trading. Spiko would have never allowed such a forum.

There are a lot of good 'info' threads on the Conversation side of the forum here as well as friendly banter...some is gardening and some isn't.

We welcome you, a seed virgin, and hope that you are soon addicted.

btw...I am the resident busy body.

    Hi:

Welcome to seed trading, I just thought I'd offer a bit of advice: you wrote on your list about not having 1/4 tsp of some seeds, and you're probably talking about the tiny seeds. Plenty of people still do 25 seeds (or up, who wants to actually count tiny seeds?) when they're tiny. As long as you state that up-front, your traders should not be disappointed. And, don't assume the amounts you'll get from your traders, there's no actual rule about how many seeds to send, there's just a guideline that is a starting point. You may be pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised (very seldom unpleasantly!).

Also, with bigger seeds or when the whole commercial pack doesn't have all that many, you don't need to send as many. Your nasturtiums could be 8-10 seeds, for instance. Then there are some for you as well, or enough for 2 trades. Just state the amount next to the name and you're good.

One last tip: communicate, communicate, communicate! Keep adding the new email on top of the old ones without deleting, so it's easy to find the address and list when you want to send. Make sure they know what you're sending and how much, and you know the same for them. And, talk about how quickly you're likely to get the trade out so no one gets impatient.

Have fun, and welcome to the asylum! :)
