sawing up RR ties

Hate those suckers in my driveway. Old and starting to grow hair in their ears. Gonna buzz saw them when my husband isn't looking into slices I can move.

Got any ideas as to what to do with those suckers?

You might post on the free net thru Eureka recycing. Probably get someone to dig them up and haul them away for nothing. They still good for borders etc?

Just passing a word of caution...those old rr ties most likely were treated with creosote back in the days. Creosote is a known carcinogen, causing cancer. Most of it has probably leached out from those ties over the years, but when cutting them open, you are risking breathing in creosote from the wood's interior. Use precautions to keep yourself healthy if you decide to cut them up.

No, not good for a border (in my case the driveway)anymore because they are breaking down.

Thank you for warning me about the creosote--I can be impatient and without your advice I wouldn't have bothered with a mask.....

Just a dust mask won't do. They are actually useless in protecting one from contaminates in the air. For full protection you need a full face mask. Why not just have them dug up whole and hauled away?
