I am on a very tight budget and was really itching to plant this year. I found my herb seeds and some Pineberry seeds on ebay from reputable dealers and spent maybe 12.00 total for all of them including shipping. All of them are 'personal' seeds, which means not packaged and from personal gardens. But you probably know that :)
Anyway, that was my budget. My planters are all in storage and unaccessible to me right now. My son mentioned planting in boxes. Right now my seeds are starting to germinate in their little plastic food container greenhouses, aka milk carton, juice bottle, strawberry carton, etc. I will have to transplant in a couple of weeks so I am needing ideas for Basil, Lemon basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano and peppermint. My biggest concern are the Pineberry's. I know I will have to have something wide enought for them. Right now I have a few 2 liter soda bottle containers, an orange juice carton and a 1 gal ice cream bucket that I have filled with soil but it is not enough.
Will boxes hold out for the herb season? or will they fall apart from the moisture before that? I really hate using plastic to line them.
