That's a good one!

I've used them as pots for tender herbs, salad greens and annuals. Just line them up on the stoop with their labels all in a row. (Be sure to punch enough holes in the bottom, so the plants don't get waterlogged.) And at the end of the season, toss the contents in the compost piles.

It's just one reuse, but makes me feel virtuous!

Get a couple rolls of silver tape at the Lowes. Cut the bags open and flatten them out, then tape the bags together to make a large square. Using a garment pattern, cut out pieces to construct a shirt, pants, hat and shoes. Tape the pieces together. Use this (and your favorite axe) for a halloween costume - Tin Man.

Cut open the bags and flatten them out. Tape them together to make large silver sheets. Using a staple gun attach the sheets to the inside roof in your attic to reflect heat. This gives you an R-rating of about 45 and saves you the $27k that Lowes and Home Depot want to charge for lining your attic with silver foil. And it's fun-the whole family can go up there and sweat together.

Cut open the bags and tape them to the outside of your soapbox racer. Even if your car is a real slow box, at least it'll be shiny. Use red tape to attach your car number to the fenders.

Cut two holes in the bottom of each bag and use them for waterproof pants on your toddler. They don't work any better than any other waterproof pants, but they smell like coffee until they get poopie, and then you won't have to wash them, you can just throw them away.

I use coffee bags to line odd shaped vases that leak (art pottery bought for looks). They conform to the shape. They can be used to make anything you want into vase. I've got a 5lb one that's almost empty, not sure yet what I'll do with it- thinking of converting an old paste board globe of the the earth bought at a yard sale into a vase.

I'm not a coffee drinker, what do these bags look like? Any picutes? Are these the FREE coffee grounds I hear members on this website talking about?

pippi, Starbucks receives its coffee in silver bags & then puts used grounds in the bags for its free "grounds for the garden" program.

All you have to do is stop by & look around for a container with silver bags in it;
if you don't see one, ask "Do you have some grounds for the garden?"

Not all Starbucks participate;
the ones inside other stores, like Target, are franchised & not under the direction of Starbucks, & not all of them save the grounds.

& some managers claim that the health department won't allow them to participate, since coffee grounds draw flies & are a health hazard, which is a lie;
if coffee grounds were that nasty, nobody would be allowed to sell brewed coffee, & having a customer pick up bags of grounds is as good a way of disposing of them as putting them in the dumpster to be wasted at the landfill.

but I don't know that you can get Starbucks to make the manager start participating...
