There is a carpentry prviding me with lots of waste-wood which I have been using to build some planters. Recently I'm considering using sawdust. The idea is to mix sawdust with a resin or glue to make a wood-paste which can be molded into any shape. Glue is very expensive and not water resistant. ready-made wood paste nicknamed "Liquid wood" or "wood filler" is even more expensive, and I would have to buy many cans of this paste.

Any wood solvent or wood resin available in the market? I would make a paste, mold the paste and let it dry. I would polish and lacquer or paint the planter as necessary. Does the paste shrink considerably and cracks when it dries-up?

Is it strong enough?
