Thats great! I did the same thing this year. I think next year for a more lasting option I'll engrave some river stones with my dremel.

That straight-grained scrap of wood is a terrific find.

My DH coughed up some lengths of random copper pipe and broken tool handles for hose guides, but he jealously guards scrap wood -- lumber being so expensive now.

the local job site dumpsters here are goldmines iam3. I like the broken tool handles and copper pipe for hose guides idea. Tro ut - that would sure be a more permanent way to go

I went to my brothers house the other day to get some "junk" my mom no longer wanted. He does fencing on the side and in his back 40 he has literally PILES of wooden fencing that he took down and considers trash. I was standing there with my mouth hanging open, looking like a kid at Disney land and he's like "what is wrong with you?"
I said in awe and wonder "I'm pretty sure I could make a house with all this wood, if I only knew how!" So, tomorrow I'm headed over there to get my 1st truck-ful to start projects and this is going on my list!!!
