yes i just finished doing my containers and side garden plants veggies with the rinse water from medium load of wash i throw the top sudys water off a little been doing that this year for first time however i do not use fabric softener just purex a handful of washing soda no harm to anything so far i also fill the rainbarrel with rinse buckets if i dont need it for plants first year ive done this however just that and rainbarrel reduced my water bill at least twenty two dollars

Our laundry water also runs outinto the yard. I cannot direct there it goes, though. It goes into a puddle. My problem is that the standing water seems to produce gnats. Any ideas how to deal with this?

Here's an idea: direct the water into a container instead of right onto the ground, then scoop it up and use it. Then you wouldn't have standing water on the ground. The container could be something shallow, like a $10 kiddie wading pool if you have room for it.
