What is the temperture in the brooder? Are the chicks dry before you put them in the brooder?

I suspect you don't have it warm enough for the new chicks. Replace the two 60 watt lights with a red heat lamp.

Try giving them a tiny taste of sugar water, helps with stress. Have you dipped their beaks in water to start them drinking?

Get a thermometer, and put it directly under a light on the brooder floor.

If it doesn't read at least 95 degrees then it is too cold.

If it is too cold, lower the light until it does reach 95 so they can get directly under it if they need too, or move away if it is too warm.

Are the chicks making a lot of noise? That usually means they are cold.

Always dip their beaks into the water when you first put them into the brooder. They need to drink before they eat.

You can lower the temperature each week by 5 degrees, by raising the light, or,
place your light so they can get away from it to a cooler part of the brooder if they wish.

I put my light on one side of the brooder, so they can get away to a cooler spot if they want to. As they get older, you will see them lay down further away from the light. Its important they have that option.

Thank ya'll all for the advise the last chic going on her second day is thriving I put the thermometer near the light buld it's reading 95 degrees. And she sure does like that sugar water. I never seen such a lil thing drink so much. My next batch should hatch this Saturday Hopefully now that I have the brooder at the temp it should be I'll have a better chance with these. But she sure does chirp especially at night makes wonder if she's lonely.
