I read an old thread about grafting the better Capulin varieties. Can anyone send me budwood? It is time to graft them now I think because the native black cherries are budding out. I will cover shipping if that helps. Thanks a bunch.
Pome: Sorry that I can't help you with budwood for this species, but I could not resist commenting with the following...
"Capulin" is simply the spanish word for cherry, and here in New Mexico that's what the native chokecherries are called. So "Capulin Cherry" is a redundancy (like the famous "The La Trattoria")
Anyway, I had to google the Capulin Cherry species to get more info about it. Have you tried it before? How does it compare to it's more northern native cousins? I was surprised to read that it is not hardy below about 20 degrees though.
