BB, very gracious thoughts and I feel the same, and what about us people in the northern regions who will now starve and be warm or be feed and freeze to death cause of the high fuel costs this winter because of this hurricane. I feel for them too. (and me) And the elderly who will have to chose between food, heat or medicines. Gas will be going to $4.00+. When will it end. None of this is a good thing for anyone. Will we become a 3rd world country someday?

Tell me about it. It will affect more than just gas prices and heating fuels. I drive a pickup because I have a farm and need to haul pallets of stuff on a regular basis. It gets 12.4 mpg. I don't have another vehicle, because I can't afford one. But I don't go anywhere anymore because of gas prices. Now it will get worse???? I think I will have to hang insulated drapes to keep from heating the whole house. Although I insulated this house in 1989, there are still a lot of drafts that blow on windy winter days. Haven't closed off the main living area since 25 years ago, when we were young, with young children constantly broke. Gonna be there again, I am afraid. I live in a rural community, and stores are usually 12 miles or farther away. This will be hard. Guess we will all have to cinch our belts and help each other out as much as we can. The world is changing so fast, it scares and depresses me.

I doubt the price of gas is on the minds of these poor folks.

And then there was Rita...... I think we had better prepare ourselves for a long, hard winter. For the whole country. I hope we don't see any more of Mother Nature's fury. Not to mention all that mankind is doing around the world. I just don't understand it. "All I am saying, is give peace a chance."

I really feel bad for those who lost their homes possibly forever.
I've never experienced any kind of life altering weather.
It's so hard to imagine. Up here in my part of BC the worst that can happen is a couple feet of snow over night.
Although we are at risk of forest fires that could wipe out entire towns.
