hypertufa window box?

I have been thinking about making a window box and using hypertufa. I have never used this media before, so i am not all to familiar with its weight.

The boxes need to be 36" x 8" x8", could I make the wall thickness thinner (saving weight) by using chicken wire or a mesh to reinforce?

Even though hypertufa is considered to be lighter than concrete it's not that light. You could rip the siding off of your house!! LOL In this application I'd go with plastic and paint it or wood. Billie

Even plastic and wood in the size that you mention are going to be very heavy once the soil is added. You can cut the weight by planting in 2 quart nursery pots and put a saucer underneath each pot. If you can see into the planters, fill in around the nursery pots with spaghnum moss or just wait for the plants to fill out then you won't see the nursery pots. It will take more water but the saucer and what kind of plant (drought tolerant) will help.
We have someone in our same town that has "lovely" silk flowers "planted" in their's. They have tulips year round. Whatever floats your boat! LOL!
