Can you hypertufa over bowling ball?

I saw a picture in a book that featured concrete balls between trees. They looked to be just the size of a bowling ball plus a few inches. It seems it would be easier to just coat a bowling ball than make a hollow sphere using beach balls. Am I fooling myself?

Can you just put hypertufa over bowling balls?

Will it stick or eventually pop off?

Should some sort of adhesive or mesh be wrapped around ball first to improve adhesion?

Any ideas or tips you have would be appreciated.

Thanks!
