great design possibilities. Amanda/Paws/everyone.... so how do you think these were done? I can't imagine all those raised lines matching so well without having made the tiles (or at least the last stage of decorating them) all at once laid out like the final design. On the other hand, I can't imagine doing it that way either due to the large finished work.

Last summer I made a test "tile" by taking 1/4 inch thick hardibacker board cut into a 12 by 12 inch square and slapping some cement designs on it by adding a 1/2 inch thick coat of concrete and then combing in some designs and adding texture. I colored it later by painting with very watered down paints. When it dried I tossed it onto a flower bed to see what contact with soil, and Indiana weather during the winter would do to it. It looks today exactly like it did 7 months ago so I think the hardibacker board tile covered with cement designs would work well for the wall I want to cover (outdoors).
Has anyone else tried this?????

I'm guessing it was designed as one piece, possibly in clay. Then twas cut with a really, really sharp blade before firing. Or total curing, in crete's case.

Or some crafty soul cut em after curing with a diamond blade of some sort.

I wanted to ask someone there but the condo had been built so long ago they couldn't help in the office. Just have to speculate.
