It's a renewable resource, unlike peat. I'm interested. I live 30 minutes from a commercial peat bog, though. Great quality peat is cheap for me.

I have a bag of coir which I intend to try as well. It seems to be about the same consistency as peat and doesn't appear to need sifting. I will get back to you on this.

Have made a few batches of coir tufa and they turn out just fine. The coir is easier to sift than the peat but it does have little fibres that appear on the finished surface. Easy to burn off or just leave, as it is almost un-noticeable. Will have to wait for long term results.

I made a small planter using coir. It turned out fine but I don't think I'll use coir again. I didn't burn off the fibers so the planter has a fuzzy look to it. My daughter call it "the hairball planter" and from a distance it sure looks like one!
